Senior Director, Automotive Finance Practice
Mike Buckingham is Senior Director of the Automotive Finance Practice at J.D. Power. He is responsible for providing oversight and strategic direction for the company’s automotive finance practice in the United States and Canada. Key automotive finance products with which he works are syndicated surveys for dealer (DFS) and consumer (CFS) satisfaction and the PIN Navigator,® which provides transactional data-based insights for auto dealer sales and consumer financing activities.
Mr. Buckingham has been in the indirect auto financing industry for more than 30 years. Prior to joining J.D. Power in 2013, he was the president and chief executive officer of Hyundai Capital America, the financing arm for Hyundai and Kia Motors. He has also held senior positions at Bank One, Chrysler Financial and Citicorp Acceptance.
Mr. Buckingham received a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Houston.
Senior Vice President – Automotive Operations
Bob Carter is senior vice president of automotive operations for Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A. Inc. Carter is responsible for the Toyota division, the Lexus division, sales administration, Toyota Logistics Services, Toyota Motor Sales de Mexico and Toyota de Puerto Rico.
Prior to his current position, Carter was group vice president and general manager of Toyota division at TMS, where he was responsible for leading all sales, logistics and marketing activities for Toyota and Scion regional sales offices and distributors.
Carter previously served as group vice president and general manager of Lexus where he oversaw all aspects of Lexus automotive operations, including sales and marketing, retail development, customer satisfaction and product planning. His responsibilities also included coordinating sales activities, dealer relations, parts and service operations, and the marketing operations of four regional offices around the country.
As vice president of sales for the Toyota division earlier in his career, Carter was responsible for dealer and field operations for TMS, private-distributor interface coordination, corporate retail dealer development and public companies. Carter has also served as vice president of sales and dealer development for the Lexus division.
Since joining TMS in 1981 as a warranty processor, Carter has held a number of other positions, including general manager of Toyota’s Denver regional sales office, Lexus eastern area manager, and Lexus national market representation manager. He was also the general manager and part owner of Hyannis Toyota in Hyannis, Mass.
Carter received a bachelor’s degree in business from Shippensburg State College in Shippensburg, Pa.
Director, Consulting & Analytics
Chief Executive Officer
Thasunda Brown Duckett is the Chief Executive Officer at Chase Auto Finance, part of JPMorgan Chase’s consumer and community banking business.
Previously, Ms. Duckett was national retail sales executive for Chase Mortgage Banking. Earlier, she led Mortgage Banking’s East Region Sales team. She also served as the channel executive of bank branch integration and as director of affordable lending and emerging markets.
Prior to joining JPMorgan Chase, Ms. Duckett was a director of emerging markets at Fannie Mae, where she led the implementation of national strategies designed to increase homeownership among African Americans and Hispanics across the country.
Ms. Duckett earned a bachelor’s degree in finance and marketing from the University of Houston and an MBA from Baylor University.
Executive Vice President, Marketing, Sales, Americas and Strategic Planning
Joy Falotico is Executive Vice President, Marketing, Sales, Americas and Strategic Planning at Ford Motor Credit Company. She is responsible for global marketing and strategic planning, sales and brand management as well as business operations in North America and South America.
Previously, Ms. Falotico was executive vice president of Ford Credit North America, responsible for the company’s business in the United States and Canada, its largest regional operation. She also served as vice president of U.S. sales operations, vice president of global marketing, and had pan-European responsibility for customer and dealer service operations and risk management for Ford Credit Europe.
In 2010, she was recognized by “Automotive News” as one of the 100 leading women in the North American auto industry.
Ms. Falotico earned a bachelor’s degree from Truman State University and an MBA from DePaul University.
Vice President, Corporate Development, Group 1 Auto
Mark Iuppenlatz is Vice President of Corporate Development for Group 1 Automotive, Inc. He is responsible for managing the company’s international business mergers/acquisitions group as well as its construction, real estate and purchasing departments.
Previously, Mr. Iuppenlatz served as executive vice president of corporate development for Sonic Automotive, Inc., where he supervised all merger and acquisition activities as well as the real estate, construction and manufacturer relations departments. He was also directly responsible for the negotiation, purchase and integration of more than 120 independent business units acquired by the company.
Earlier, Mr. Iuppenlatz was chief operating officer of a private REIT specializing in automotive-related real estate and was active in the real estate development field. Prior to his position with the REIT, he was the senior real estate development officer for the publicly traded senior housing group Brookdale Living Communities, Inc.
Mr. Iuppenlatz received a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University.
Managing Director and Founder
Erin Kerrigan is Managing Director of Kerrigan Advisors, which she founded in 2014. Kerrigan Advisors is a national buy/sell advisory firm focused on providing a limited number of sellers a high level of client service.
Previously, Ms. Kerrigan headed Presidio Automotive, during which time the firm represented dealer clients in numerous multi-million dollar transactions. Prior to that role, Ms. Kerrigan was a senior vice president at AutoStar, a subsidiary of iStar Financial (NYSE: SFI), where she led transaction origination. Earlier, she was dealer operator of her family’s automotive dealership, which she sold in 2006. She began her post-graduate career as an investment banker for Piper Jaffray.
Ms. Kerrigan is a recognized industry expert on dealership valuation, real estate and buy/sells, and is a frequent speaker at leading auto retail events and conferences, including NADA, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), National Association of Dealer Counsel (NADC), Auto Team America’s Buy/Sell Summit and DrivingSales’ President’s Club.
Ms. Kerrigan has also served as keynote speaker for events hosted by American Honda Motor Company, Audi of America, Bank of America, US Trust, Ohio Automobile Dealer Association, and SunTrust Bank. Additionally, she has led webinars for NADA and Automotive News and shares her expertise in a monthly column she writes for Dealer Magazine.
Ms. Kerrigan received her undergraduate degree from Northwestern University and her MBA from UCLA Anderson School of Management.
Vice President, PIN U.S. OEM Operations, Media And Marketing
Thomas King is the Vice President, PIN U.S. OEM Operations, Media and Marketing at J.D. Power. He is responsible for advising automotive OEMs regarding issues related to vehicle demand, pricing and incentive effectiveness. He oversees a team of consultants, marketing scientists and statisticians in leveraging transaction data from the Power Information Network® (PIN), a leading provider of real-time, actionable market data and insight.
Prior to joining J.D. Power in 2005, Mr. King was in Global Market and Industry Analysis at General Motors. There, he analyzed the U.S. automotive industry, focusing on sales, pricing and incentive dynamics.
Mr. King received a master’s degree in economics, management and materials science from the University of Oxford in England.

Chief Executive Officer
Franklin McLarty is a founding executive and current CEO of RLJ McLarty Landers Automotive Holdings ("RML Automotive"), the nation’s 19th largest automotive dealership group according to Automotive News. Since joining RML's predecessor firm, McLarty-Landers LLC in 2005, he has been directly involved in all aspects of the company's growth into one of the country's largest automotive retailers while also overseeing his family's heritage dealerships in Hope, Arkansas.
McLarty is co-founder and vice chairman of McLarty Capital Partners (MCP), a New York-based investment platform focused on making opportunistic investments in key industries that operate in the global marketplace. He serves as chairman of the advisory board of the MCP Small Business Fund. In addition to founding MCP, he is the co-founder of CapRocq, a commercial real estate investment platform that focuses on investment opportunities in the nation’s heartland region. He is also senior vice president and board member of the McLarty Companies, a fourth-generation family transportation business with operations in the United States, Mexico and Brazil.
Prior to entering the automotive industry, McLarty enjoyed a successful career in hotel-oriented private equity. From 2003 to 2005, he was vice president of McKibbon Hotel Group, a privately held development and management firm, where he was responsible for raising third party capital and where he divested more than $135 million in hotel assets to NYSE listed hotel REIT's. Before his tenure at McKibbon, he was a managing director for the Miami-based Seaway Group, where he was responsible for hotel acquisitions, development and divestitures. He continues to serve as a member of Seaway Group's advisory board.
McLarty is a member of the board of directors of P.A.M. Transport Services, Inc. (NASDAQ: PTSI), a transportation holding company serving markets in the United States, Mexico and Canada. He is past chairman of the Arkansas Economic Development Commission (AEDC), and he serves on the boards of directors of Tire Group International, a Miami-based international distribution company, Little Rock Regional Chamber of Commerce and Fifty for the Future, a business-focused enterprise closely aligned with the mission of the Little Rock Regional Chamber of Commerce. He is also a founding board member of the Little Rock Film Festival, one of the South's largest and most acclaimed film festivals. In 2011, McLarty served as chairman of the Donald D. Reynolds Governor's Cup collegiate business plan competition.
He earned a B.A. from the University of Richmond and an MBA from the University of Miami. He and his wife Gabby live in Dallas with their daughter Brianna.
Executive Vice President, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd.
José Muñoz is executive vice president, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. and chairman, Nissan North America, Inc., positions to which he was appointed in January 2014.
In these roles, Muñoz reports to Trevor Mann, chief performance officer, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., and is responsible for overseeing Nissan's operations in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. His scope includes Manufacturing, Engineering, Design, Sales and Marketing, Administration and Finance. He also serves as a Nissan Motor Company Executive Committee member.
Muñoz joined Nissan in 2004 as general manager, Dealer Development, for Nissan Europe. He then served as managing director of Nissan Iberia, S.A.
In 2009, Muñoz was named president, Nissan Mexicana (NMEX). Under his leadership, NMEX achieved the highest market share in Nissan's history and saw a 42-month run of sales leadership in Mexico. Muñoz was also responsible for developing key dealer network initiatives that led to significant improvements across NMEX's sales network.
In April 2012, Muñoz became responsible for the operating performance of the company's operations in Mexico, Latin America and Brazil, representing each on Nissan's Management Committee for the Americas. He also was responsible for the company's Dealer Network Development organization across the Americas.
Muñoz joined Nissan after a career that included more than 10 years in management positions with other automotive companies in Europe.
Muñoz holds a Doctorate in nuclear engineering from Polytechnic University of Madrid and an MBA from Instituto de Empresa Business School in Madrid. He has also completed other executive management programs from Cranfield School of Management in the U.K. and INSEAD Business School in France. He is based in Franklin, Tenn.
Ed Napleton is the CEO of the Napleton Automotive Group, The Napleton Fleet Group and North American Real Estate Management. He has built these three divisions from the ground up. The Napleton Automotive Group has 25 locations spanning five states and generates more than $1 billion in annual sales. It is ranked the 37th largest dealer group in the country by WardsAuto 2014. The Napleton Fleet Group was established in 1992 and is one of the most successful private fleet companies in the United States. North American Real Estate Management oversees a national portfolio of more than two million square feet of commercial, industrial and office space.
Mr. Napleton is the third generation in his family to enter the auto business. In 1931, Ed’s grandfather opened a Buick store on Chicago’s South Side. Ed spent much of his childhood working at their Chrysler Plymouth Dealership with his father and grandfather. He swept floors, became a mechanic and worked his way up to general manager. At the young age of 24 he was awarded his first franchise Ed Napleton Pontiac. Shortly thereafter he added a Honda franchise. Today, he has more than forty franchises in 25 locations.
Mr. Napleton has received numerous awards during his automotive career from a variety of manufacturers, including Chrysler Five-Star Awards, Acura’s Precision Team Dealer of Excellence, Hyundai’s Board of Excellence and Porsche Premier Dealer, among others.
Mr. Napleton received a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Loyola University in Chicago.
Fin O’Neill is President of J.D. Power, a global leader in providing benchmarks and insights into the Voice of the Customer. The company serves a variety of industries, including automotive, financial services, insurance, telecommunications, healthcare, energy, utilities and hospitality and travel.
Prior to joining J.D. Power in 2008, Mr. O’Neill was vice chairman and CEO of Reynolds and Reynolds, a global provider of dealership management software and services. He also held positions as co-chairman, president and CEO of Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. from 2003 to 2005, and president and CEO of Hyundai Motor America from 1998 to 2003. Mr. O’Neill joined Hyundai Motor America as general counsel in February 1985.
Previously, Mr. O’Neill was employed by Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A. as senior counsel, following seven years of law practice in New York at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher and Flom, one of the nation’s largest law firms.
Mr. O’Neill formerly served as chairman of the board of the Association of International Automobile Manufacturers. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Columbia University and a juris doctorate from Fordham University Law School, where he was an editor of the Law Review.
President, Automotive Finance
Tim Russi is President of Automotive Finance at Ally Financial. He is responsible for developing strategy and driving the performance of Ally’s auto business.
Previously, Mr. Russi was executive vice president of North American Operations—Auto (NAO) for the United States and Canada; chief financial officer for Ally’s Global Automotive Services; and chief operating officer for NAO.
Mr. Russi has more than 30 years of business and financial services experience, having previously served in management and leadership positions at Bank of America, Cerberus Operations and Advisory Company, US Leasing (a Ford Financial Services company), Deloitte, DHR International, and Ernst & Young.
Mr. Russi received a bachelor’s degree in managerial economics from the University of California at Davis.
Vice President, Global Automotive
Dave Sargent is Vice President, Vehicle Research in the Global Automotive Operations Division at J.D. Power. He manages all of the company’s vehicle research in the United States, including the Initial Quality Study (IQS); Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study; and Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS), as well as all component research and quality tracking studies. He also oversees the coordination of all vehicle research worldwide.
Previously, Mr. Sargent was vice president, U.S. Automotive Research for J.D. Power, responsible for all syndicated research in the U.S. market. Prior to that, he was the practice leader of J.D. Power’s European operations, where he established the company’s London office in 1995. Earlier, he worked in the company’s headquarters in California, and was responsible for the Initial Quality Study and a number of proprietary quality studies.
Before joining J.D. Power in 1992, Mr. Sargent worked for a UK consulting firm specializing in competitor analysis, as well as for Ford of Europe and the Rover Group.
Mr. Sargent holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of York and an MBA from Manchester Business School, both in the UK.
Senior Vice President of Forecasting
Jeff Schuster is Senior Vice President of Forecasting at LMC Automotive, with responsibility for all activities in the Americas region, and he is one of the company’s primary global automotive experts. Included in his role is leading the analysis of manufacturer, segment, platform, model, and plant trends. Additionally, he oversees global light vehicle sales and production forecasts and processes and is a member of the LMC Automotive board of directors.
Mr. Schuster has been tracking developments in the global automotive industry for nearly twenty years and has been with LMC Automotive since its inception in 2011. He is widely quoted by the automotive media in print, internet, radio and television. He frequently makes industry conference and seminar presentations on various topics, including the current assessment and outlook of the automotive industry. He is an active member of Society of Automotive Analysts and the Automotive Press Association.
Prior to joining the LMC Automotive, Mr. Schuster led the automotive forecast division of J.D. Power and has experience in financial analysis and cash management in the automotive supply base.
Mr. Schuster earned a bachelor’s degree in finance and a Master of Science degree in corporate finance from Walsh College.
Peter L. Turek
Vice President, Automotive, U.S. Information Services
Peter Turek is vice president, Automotive for TransUnion’s U.S. Information Services (USIS) division. In this role, he is responsible for creating, updating and executing a comprehensive growth strategy for TransUnion’s automotive segment.
Mr. Turek is a 20-year veteran of the company and has held numerous positions throughout the organization. Most recently he was vice president, strategic accounts for TransUnion’s USIS division and prior to that he was a sales leader in the Chicago and mid-Atlantic divisions. He has played a key role in identifying companies and products that complement TransUnion’s solutions in the marketplace. Before TransUnion, Turek was a credit manager with Citibank.
Mr. Turek received a Bachelor of Science in information systems from UMBC, a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Maryland and a certificate from Harvard University. He was a board member of the Consumer Credit Counseling Services - Southeast Maryland chapter from 1996-1999 and a member of Junior Achievement and the Arthritis Foundation. Mr. Turek was previously an MP in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1984-1992.
